Brazil Visa Waiver Program Underway
The period of unilateral visa exemption for Canadian tourists wanting to visit Brazil has begun.
Canadians are guaranteed visa free entry between June 1 and Sept. 18 – a period that includes the Rio de Janeiro Olympics – with a limited stay of 90 days from the date of first entry into the country. The exemption is directed towards international visitors who come to Brazil exclusively for tourism purposes. The visitor does not need to prove that they have tickets to attend any Olympics event.
The Brazilian Tourism Board (Embratur) has undertaken many actions abroad to highlight the invitation to international visitors to go to Brazil in 2016. They include participating in international trade shows, training travel agents, digital strategies, inflight magazine campaigns, advertising at airports and the launch of the new Visit Brasil website.
“Embratur has made a strong effort to share the news about the visa waiver measure, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in four countries. We believe in consistent returns,” says José Antonio Parente, Embratur’s interim president.
