LGBT Networking Event Set For June 16 in Toronto
Toronto’s first “JUST beCAUSE” networking event for LGBT travel and tourism professionals and allies will be held in Toronto June 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Berkeley Bicycle Club.
JUST beCAUSE is a quarterly event that brings Toronto’s LGBT tourism professionals together for evenings of networking while giving back and supporting LGBT organizations across Canada. Co-founders Armando Mendonça (l) and Darrell Schuurman wanted to bring LGBT tourism professionals together for evenings of networking and socializing, but thought it could be more than an event “just for the fun of it.”
“We wanted to give back to the community,” said Schuurman. “It’s LGBT tourism networking with a cause.”
Each JUST beCAUSE event supports a different LGBT organization. Dollars raised will be donated to help in the efforts and activities of those LGBT organizations that continue to work tirelessly and fight for the LGBT community in Canada.
“We are excited to be hosting our first event on June 16, where we are supporting the Egale Centre, a transitional and emergency housing facility exclusively dedicated to LGBTIQ2S youth,” said Mendonça. “This is an important cause, and we are so pleased to be able to support them in their efforts.”
DJ Matty Ryce will be providing the music for the evening. Attendees will have an opportunity to win a seven-night trip to Vienna, thanks to partners the Vienna Tourist Board, Austrian Airlines and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
There is no cost to attend, but people are encouraged to make a donation to the Egale Centre. People can register for the event at http://www.justbecause2016.ca.
