Irish Cheer
It may have been a week before St. Patrick’s Day, but Trafalgar, Tourism Ireland and Aer Lingus teamed up to get the celebrations going early last night (March 10) at a special industry event at P.J. O’Brien Irish Pub in Toronto.
Guests were treated to a professional folklore storyteller and live Irish music.
Ireland is Trafalgar’s second most travelled to country (next to Italy) and the Canadian operator has 14 itineraries focusing on the Emerald Isle.
“Trafalgar loves Ireland. Canadians love Ireland,” said Anita Emilio, VP sales, Trafalgar Canada. “It’s beautiful and lends itself well to a guided vacation.”
A tip for agents with clients interested in Ireland – book sooner rather than later as Trafalgar’s programs are popular and fill up early.
Also speaking at the event was Dana Welch, manager, Canada, Tourism Ireland, who noted that it’s never been easier to get to Ireland with the likes of Air Canada, Air Canada rouge, WestJet, Air Transat and ASL Airlines (formerly Europe Airpost) offering lift.
Special themes and focus for travel to Ireland this year include the Wild Atlantic Way (offering 2,500 km of coastal scenery) and Ireland’s Ancient East (featuring 5,000 years of European history). It’s also the year of Food and Drink in Northern Ireland.
