A Taste of Ireland Comes to Toronto
Tourism Ireland celebrated a “taste of Ireland” this past weekend at Toronto’s Festival of Beer and highlighted by a selection of Irish chefs, craft brewers and musicians at the Ireland Pavilion.
It is the first time Tourism Ireland has participated in the event and Alison Metcalfe, executive vice-president, USA and Canada at Tourism Ireland, told Press Today it was great opportunity for the organization to target younger travellers – with a sampling of the Emerald Isle’s unique craft breweries, food and music.
Speaking at a VIP reception, Dana Welsh, marketing manager, Tourism Ireland, Canada, told attendees Ireland is always in season and noted the shoulder season is a great time for visitors to take advantage of city break excursions with such destinations as Dublin and Belfast. She stressed that access is easy with Air Canada rouge and Aer Lingus offering year-round service, and Air Transat and Westjet offering seasonal flights.
She also took the opportunity to promote the country’s Wild Atlantic Way, a 2,500 km scenic coastal route, and the popular of Game of Thrones locales in Northern Ireland.
