Playa Resorts Takes Aim At Canada
Playa Resorts Management has expanded its Canadian sales team, naming Rose Cosentino as director of sales for Canada and appointing Amanda Morris as eastern business development manager for Canada. Cosentino will oversee the Canadian team, which also includes longtime Playa western business development manager for Canada, Freddie Marsh.
Playa Resorts Management is the operational management component of Playa Hotels & Resorts B.V., which owns and operates Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, as well as THE ROYAL and Gran brands.
Cosentino brings more than 25 years of experience in the travel industry, having held a number of senior management positions with several companies including, most recently, vice-president of sales & supplier relations at iTravel2000, and general manager at Huntington Travel. Her previous experience also includes national director of sales & customer care for Signature Vacations and national manager, Canada for CWT Concierge. Morris joins Playa as BDM for Eastern Canada from Mywurld Solutions, Inc., where she was a sales manager. Playa’s portfolio consists of 14 hotels comprising 6,175-rooms in prime beach locations in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Playa Resorts Management is the operational management component of Playa Hotels & Resorts.
Playa owns and manages Hyatt Zilara Cancun, Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara in Rose Hall Jamaica, Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos (opening summer 2015), and Hyatt Ziva Cancun (opening fall 2015). The company also owns and operates three resorts under Playa’s brands, The ROYAL and Gran, as well as five resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic that are managed by a third party.
Under an agreement with an affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Playa will pursue the acquisition or development of new all-inclusive resort opportunities under two new Hyatt all inclusive brands – Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara. Playa will also have certain rights to operate Hyatt-branded all inclusive resorts in five Latin American and Caribbean countries.
