Robots Work the Crowd at Edmonton Airport
Robots are now on the job at Edmonton International Airport, working their charms as airport customer greeters.
The rolling pair of robots resemble Jetsons-era machines, and are in operation to provide information and answers to airport users. Duties like signing up new customers for rewards cards and answering questions in different languages are available services. They even have face recognition
capabilities, so that the female avatar face atop the robot can respond with smiles or other emotions, and even brief conversations.
The service robots can be controlled remotely or operate independently. They are on lease to the airport from a Korean company.
