The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has donated $10,000 to support Parks Canada with an Alberta Westslope Cutthroat Trout Restoration Project. The donation to Parks Canada will help ensure the species will not disappear from Alberta’s watersheds. Westslope Cutthroat Trout are great indicators of landscape health and excellent water quality. Cutthroat trout need cold, clean water and so do people. “We continuously seek innovative ways to support and preserve our local communities. This program embodies our commitment to giving back to environmentally focused initiatives that directly affect our staff, guests and the community,” said Teresa Holmes, Environmental Systems Manager, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. “The population of the Westslope Cutthroat Trout is dire, and without any intervention, the population will continue to decline and lose genetic integrity.” Pictured (l-r) are Rick Kubian, Resource Conservation Manager, Parks Canada; Shelley Humphries, Aquatics Specialist, Parks Canada; Teresa Holmes, Environmental Systems Manager, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise; Gregor Resch, General Manager, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
