A quartet of cruise executives from Viking Cruises was in Toronto last week, telling some of the cruise company’s top-producing Canadian agents all about its new ocean cruise product. Led by its vice-president sales, the Americas, Michelle Saegesser, the group unveiled details of the travel industry’s first new cruise line in close to a decade. Retailers in the audience were certainly well aware of Viking’s river cruise product which has sailed along as Viking River Cruises for many years and now, with the addition of the Viking Ocean Cruises product. Beginning in May 2015, the 982 passenger Viking Star will embark on maiden voyages in Scandinavia and the Baltic. as well as in the Western and Eastern Mediterranean.
