To mark “day one” of the Dine Out Vancouver Festival, more than 40 chefs gathered at Granville Island Friday morning to “ham it up and say cheese” for a group photo (something we haven’t done since 2007) and ribbon cutting (ok, the “ribbon” was a string of Oyama sausages!). After, everyone was invited for a hearty breakfast at Edible Canada Bistro. Presented by Tourism Vancouver, Dine Out Vancouver Festival is a city-wide celebration of eating out, attracting tens of thousands of local and visiting foodies to Vancouver’s diverse collection of restaurants for 17 days. Now in its 11th year, the festival allows diners to sample menus from hundreds of restaurants around the city, all for a prix fixe cost (price points are $18, $28 and $38 p.p.) and many with suggested BC VQA wine or Granville Island Brewing beer pairings (available at an additional cost). Dine Out Vancouver Festival 2013 runs through Feb. 3. (http://www.dineoutvancouver.com)
