Transat Discoveries hosted a Latin America trade event in the Toronto area on April 24, updating 90 travel agents on what the Transat Holidays division offers in Peru and Ecuador and its Galapagos Islands. Berenice Ayala, Quito-based general manager of Transat Discoveries’ inbound operator Gaston Sacaze, presented highlights of Peru — such as Machu Picchu, Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca and the Sacred Valley — and took agents through Transat Discoveries’ Ecuador Exposed and Galapagos Islands itineraries, including Quito, Otavalo, Riobamba, Ingapirca and the Amazon rainforest. The 11-day Ecuador Exposed tour takes clients from the Pacific to the Amazon, seeing Andean volcanoes, colourful markets, the Incan ruins of Ingapirca, colonial baroque towns and Amazon rain forest. An optional trip to the Galapagos Islands at the end of the journey enables people to retrace Charles Darwin’s footsteps. Various guaranteed departures are available from May through November. For June and August departures, tour prices start at $2,599 plus taxes and fees of $455, based on double occupancy. Roundtrip airfare from Toronto aboard LAN Airlines, 25 meals, accommodation and transfers are included. Pictured are Ayala (l) and Sherry Brown, sales representative, Transat Discoveries.
