The Hong Kong Tourist Board (HKTB), joined by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office, hosted its annual Chinese New Year dinner in Toronto last week and it was definitely a festive and celebratory affair. The HKTB’s director for Canada, Central & South America, Michael Lim reported that in 2011 Hong Kong arrivals hit record levels once again. Total visitations reached 40.92 million, an increase of 16.4%, while Canadian visitors topped out at 410,591, a gain of 1.6%. So it’s not surprising that tourism officials were in an upbeat mood as they marked the arrival of the Year of the Dragon. Seen here, from l-r, are the HKTB’s Lim and Karisa Lui with Canadian Travel Press’ executive editor, Bob Mowat.
