GO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO
Based on hotel bookings made on Expedia.ca for the 2013 Victoria Day weekend, the most popular domestic destinations for travel include Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal, Banff, Toronto and Niagara Falls. Expedia.ca found that although 60% of Canadians would like to stay within their home province for this Victoria Day weekend, 12% would like to travel in Canada and 14% would like to venture down to our neighbours south of the border. Sean Shannon, vice-president and managing director of Expedia.ca, observed that: “Those travelling south of the border are heading to Las Vegas, New York and Seattle.” The survey also found that Canadians view the four national summer long weekends as an opportunity or perhaps an excuse to travel, with 66% of respondents stating they take advantage of at least one long weekend over the summer to go on holiday. As well, Expedia.ca’s survey discovered that when planning summer vacations, more than half (54%) of respondents said they will “always” or at least “sometimes” try to strategically book around long weekends so they can enjoy more time off without using allotted vacation days from their employers In this respect, Shannon noted that: “Canadians deserve to make the most of the summer and their long weekends after enduring another winter, and we agree with the 64% of respondents who said that long weekends offer a good opportunity to take a short holiday.” He went on to say that “with only 25% of Canadians saying they have definite plans this upcoming Victoria Day long weekend, our Spontaneous Summer Sale offers Canadians one more reason to pack up and get away with 50% off select hotels at top destinations worldwide.” For more on Expedia.ca’s Spontaneous Summer Getaways contest visit http://www.facebook.com/expediaca or check out http://www.expedia.ca for more.
