NO FOOLING: BTC applauds DOT decision

The Business Travel Coalition (BTC) is applauding the US Department of Transportation’s (DOT) decision to extend from April 1, 2013 to May 1, 2013, the public comment period on the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) application before DOT for approval of its Resolution 787. (The DOT docket number is OST-2013-0048). BTC chairman, Kevin Mitchell commented: “We welcome that additional time has been provided to the travel industry, its major customers and individual consumers to comment on this public-policy deliberation of immense strategic importance.” Mitchell continued: “This IATA initiative represents a new global business model for pricing and selling air transportation that would structurally change the industry in unalterable ways impacting all supply chain participants, including the end customer,” BTC’s view is that whether in support of or in opposition to Resolution 787, travel industry participants from around the world should take advantage of the opportunity to influence the outcome of DOT’s review and submit comments before May 1st. To facilitate industry participation and comment on IATA’s application, BTC has created a web site at http://bit.ly/ZriS6V that contains the following documents and links to make commenting easy and efficient for industry participants: A DOT filing-shell into which to insert comments; NDC At-A-Glance; Deep analysis of NDC; BTC’s OST-2013-0048 filing; Other industry OST-2013-0048 filings; A DOT link to the filing page.
