Turks & Caicos is back in Canada and ready to tell its story

Experience Turks & Caicos is ramping up its activities in Canada as it looks to take advantage of the growth it has seen from this market in 2024.

In Toronto, to participate in the Outdoor Adventure Show this week, Experience Turks & Caicos’ Chief Marketing Officer, Trina Adams and her team also hosted about 50 travel trade types to lunch at Miss Likklemore’s to update them on some of the things that are happening in the destination that will appeal to Canadian visitors.

Off the top, 2024 was a good year for Turks & Caicos out of Canada — which is the destination’s second largest market after the United States – as it welcomed 48,840 visitors from this country.

And to make sure that growth continues, Adams told Travel Press Today that Experience Turks & Caicos has hired VoX International to represent them in Canada “and will be working very closely with them to drive our marketing efforts in Canada.”

Adams told the travel trade gathering that: “Canada has always been an important market for us and we were missing for quite some time and we wanted to come back and reintroduced Experience Turks & Caicos to the Canadian market and also re-established our presence within the market.”

While Turks & Caicos has built a reputation as a luxury destination, Experience Turks & Caicos CMO told her audience that: “The purpose of us being here today is to reintroduce the organization [to the travel trade] and we were also here attending the Outdoor Adventure Show. Eco-tourism and adventure is a new niche market for us and we definitely wanted to come and speak to people at that event and highlight the offerings that Turks & Caicos had outside of sun, sea and sand.”

There’s certainly a lot going in Turks & Caicos these days, with Adams telling Travel Press Today that currently the destination has about 4,600 rooms now and in the next few years it will be adding a further 2,500 rooms.

Of note, though, is that part of Experience Turks & Caicos plan – along with strong sustainability initiatives – is to spread the benefits of tourism throughout the destination’s 40 islands and cays and in doing so, support local businesses and improve the visitor experience.

As for her message to the Canadian travel trade, Adams said: “Turks & Caicos is back in Canada. It has always been a top tier destination for luxury, unspoiled nature and unforgettable experiences. So, keep us top of mind when planning your clients’ vacations.”

Stay tuned, there will be more on Experience Turks & Caicos in an upcoming issue of Canadian Travel Press.
