Travel Nevada hosts travel pros on ‘Neon to Nature’ FAM
Travel Nevada recently welcomed four travel professionals to the state from all corners of the globe – including Canada, Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom – each earning their place on the road trip adventure of a lifetime, as part of Nevada’s Trailblazers specialist program.
Sarah Reed from Country Junction Travel in Alberta was the Canadian winner.
The five-day Nevada FAM was themed “Neon to Nature,” starting in Las Vegas before venturing across the Silver State to explore its diverse experiences.
Kicking off in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world, the group explored the vibrant Downtown Las Vegas precinct and Fremont Street Experience. After a dazzling introduction to the city, the Nevada Trailblazers settled in for the night at the Circa Hotel and Casino.
Exploring Boulder City
Leaving Las Vegas behind, the group made their way to Boulder City, making a stop at the world-famous Hoover Dam. There, participants had the exclusive opportunity to go behind the scenes and uncover the rich history of this architectural marvel. The afternoon was spent exploring the Nevada State Railroad Museum and Boulder City itself. Overnight, the group stayed at El Racho Boulder Motel.
Day three was full of outdoor exploration, as the group set off for the impressive Red Rock Canyon, to immerse themselves in the landscape on a Red E-Bike adventure. The journey continued with a visit to Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, where the group marvelled at colourful cliffs and explored some of the oldest buildings in Nevada. The day wrapped up with an overnight stay at Pahrump Nugget Hotel, a desert oasis that is also home to award-winning wineries.
The following morning, the group took a step back in time by visiting Goodsprings Ghost Town. Once a bustling mining town with a population of 800 in the early 1900s, Goodsprings now boasts a population of just 200 and is home to the Pioneer Saloon, the oldest bar in Southern Nevada and serving the travelling group their legendary Ghost Burger.
The FAM then hit the road along the Free Range Art Highway with a neon-coloured photo stop at Seven Magic Mountains, the striking open-air art installation featuring seven vibrant, stacked boulder towers. The journey continued with a visit to the historic Techatticup Mine, the oldest and most famous gold mine in Southern Nevada.
The day’s final check-in was at Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin, the bustling waterfront city on the Colorado River, nestled in the southernmost tip of the state for boating, jet skiing, fishing and cruising the river on a tour.
Concluding the five-day adventure, the group returned to Las Vegas, to take in the breathtaking ‘Awakening’ show at the luxurious Wynn Hotel, with its mind-bending illusions, lively music, dance and puppetry in one of the world’s most technologically advanced theatres; an incredible finale to wrap up the “Neon to Nature” FAM experience.
