Maritime Travel agents return from St. Maarten FAM
The St. Maarten Tourism Bureau, in partnership with Air Canada Vacations, recently hosted a memorable FAM trip for nine travel agents from Maritime Travel providing them with a firsthand experience of everything this Caribbean gem has to offer.
In early November, the agents—hailing from across Canada —had the opportunity to explore the island’s rich culture, top resorts, and thrilling adventures, all while discovering Air Canada’s enhanced seasonal service to Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM).
Trip highlights included:
- Stays at two iconic resorts: The agents enjoyed a 4-night stay at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa, known for its lively atmosphere and stunning beachfront location. They then relaxed for 3 nights at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, a serene retreat offering panoramic views of the island’s crystal-clear waters and lush landscapes.
- A culinary cruise: One of the standout experiences was a half-day culinary cruise with Pyratz Gourmet Sailing, where the agents indulged in a delicious array of local flavors while cruising along St. Maarten’s spectacular coastline. Fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and other island-inspired dishes gave the agents a true taste of the island’s rich culinary traditions.
- Adventurous zipline experience: For those seeking thrills, the agents took to the trees with a zipline adventure at Rainforest Adventures. Offering sweeping views of St. Maarten’s lush landscape and the Caribbean Sea, this activity was a highlight for the group, who enjoyed the adrenaline rush and scenic vistas.
- A taste of local cuisine: Throughout their stay, the agents were treated to a variety of local culinary delights at a number of island restaurants. From fresh seafood to Caribbean specialties, the island’s food scene was a major highlight thanks to the annual Flavours Festival, giving the agents plenty to rave about to their clients back home.
This FAM trip not only allowed the agents to experience St. Maarten’s many offerings firsthand but also gave them a deeper understanding of Air Canada Vacations’ St. Maarten package offerings and Air Canada’s seasonal flights to SXM, making it easier for their clients in the Maritimes to book a hassle-free getaway to the island.
“We were delighted to host Maritime Travel agents from many of Canada’s provinces, as they are important traveler markets for us,” said May-Ling Chun, Director of Tourism at the St. Maarten Tourism Bureau. “The trip gave them an authentic taste of St. Maarten—from our renowned resorts and activities to our vibrant food scene. With Air Canada Vacations’ expanded flight service, we’re confident that St. Maarten will continue to be a popular choice for Canadian travelers looking for the perfect Caribbean getaway.”
The agents left St. Maarten with a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm, eager to share their newfound experiences with their clients, ensuring St. Maarten remains a top choice for travelers planning their next tropical vacation.
