MSC Cruises showcases new ship at Toronto Event

MSC Cruises has given some Toronto-area travel trade types a glimpse of what sailings will be like when its upcoming ship begins weighing the anchor on a regular basis.

The company held a Wednesday Toronto event showcasing some of what passengers can expect on its MSC World America, including providing event attendees pasta from an eatery named Eataly, also the name of a restaurant that will be on the vessel.

Another station served gelato, the Italian ice cream that will be served on the MSC World America, part of Italian-owned MSC Cruises.

The ship will begin sailing from Miami on Caribbean cruises in April.

“It (the MSC World America) truly is redefining the cruise industry,” MSC’s Tammy Thompson told the gathering, adding the vessel will have “European elegance with North American comfort.”

Features will include 13 dining options, including Eataly at Sea, with Thompson declaring that, “Our pizza, our pasta, our coffee cannot be beat on board…We are very much a foodie cruise line.”

Thompson said the World America will also appeal to those with an adventurous streak, having the likes of the “only over-the-ocean swing at sea.”

Passengers will also find a “beautiful promenade.”

The ship’s Yacht Club section will offer the likes of private butler service, available 24 hours a day.

The gathering was also told by MSC’s Jvan Mastrototaro that MSC Cruises has over 60 people in its Toronto office. “The commitment to this country (Canada) has been remarkable.”

The company is looking forward to a strong 2025, he continued.
