Thailand’s LGBTQ+ marriage equality bill goes into effect January 2025

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) New York Office proudly celebrates the landmark passage of The Kingdom’s marriage equality bill.

The bill was officially announced by the Royal Gazette on Sept. 24, 2024 and set to take effect in January of 2025.

This legislation allows marriage equality to become a reality in Thailand, marking a historic milestone for equal rights in The Kingdom of Thailand. The groundbreaking bill further solidifies Thailand’s reputation as a progressive and inclusive destination, with TAT New York implementing Go Thai Be Free, a portal, social community, and team dedicated to the preferences and needs of LGBTQ+ travellers since 2013.

Thailand has long been regarded as an LGBTQ-welcoming nation, proudly inviting all people — no matter how they identify, and whom they love, to feel free in Thailand.
