The Faroe Islands: A Rugged Paradise in the North Atlantic
The Faroe Islands are probably not top of minds to many Canadian travellers. Ostensibly, it’s an independent state with an elected parliament that is closely allied to Denmark and represented by the Danish in the international arena.
For many around the world, their first knowledge of the Faroes was from seeing them play soccer matches and causing the occasional upset in matches against more established countries such as Greece.
Nestled between Iceland and Norway, north of the Shetland Islands, the Faroes are a small archipelago of islands with a modest population of approximately 55,000 people.
