Canadian motorcycle tour op launches trips in Mexico, Australia

Canadian motorcycle touring company Freedom Biker Tours is stretching its international wings with the introduction of two new tour programs in two countries – Australia and Mexico.

Both tours feature great roads and sights, and crucially, plenty of warm weather and sunshine. But they differ in terms of distance covered.

The “Ride the Yucatan” program has a more relaxed pace and covers just 1,000 km. over the course of six days/seven nights. This leaves plenty of time for beach visits and tours, including the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, the Saamal Cenote, the Rio Secreto underground river, and a boat tour through the Rio Lagartos bird sanctuary, plus stays in the towns of Playa del Carmen and Merida.

The fully-escorted and guided trip is conducted on Harley-Davidson motorcycles and is designed for couples-only. It covers all hotel stays and breakfasts, and offers full insurance coverage, plus fuel and road tolls.

And it includes a seven-night stay on the island of Cozumel, after dropping off the Harleys and settling in for some serious beach time. Inclusive in this second half of the program are reservations at the Casa Mexicana Hotel on Cozumel, as well as a half-day scooter tour of the island (one scooter per couple), attendance at the “Day of the Dead” festival and daily breakfasts. The complete two-week package will operate Oct. 26 to Nov. 8 and is selling for US$4,499 p.p. for two persons, inclusive of accommodations and the motorcycle rental.

Freedom Biker Tours pays a 10 per cent commission to travel agents for bookings of their tour packages. For its Canadian tour programs, this commission is paid on the package rate without including the price of the motorcycle rental in the total. But for the Mexico and Australia programs, the commission is based on the advertised full package pricing.

Down Under Riding

Significantly more seat time is in order for the “Ride Australia’s Southeast” tour, which will cover about 3,500 km. over the course of 15 days, and will start on March 22, 2025.

This epic journey will wind through the states of New South Wales, Victoria, and Australia’s Capital Territory, exploring both coastal landscapes and Australia’s rugged interior geography.

Highlights include two national parks, the Snowy Mountains and the famous Great Ocean Road, with many stops along the way. Other highlights will be the exploration of Australia’s surfing legacy near the iconic Bells Beach, a visit to the Phillip Island raceway, home to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) race and a helicopter tour of the Shipwreck Coast. And of course there will be opportunities to meet face-to-face with kangaroos and koalas.

Included in the price is 15 nights accommodation, 20 meals, motorcycle fuel, park fees, attraction and excursion fees, guides and a support vehicle to carry luggage and provide water, soft drinks, snacks and a first aid kit.

Sample pricing for one person renting a motorcycle and staying in their own room (not shared) is about AUD$21,000. Both Harley-Davidsons and BMWs are available for renting.

Participants need to make their own flight arrangements to Australia and meet the touring group in Sydney for the start of the program on March 22. www.freedombikertours.com
