Discover Another Side Of Cuba

Cuban tourism authorities are hoping to convince tour operators that send Canadians on Cuba beach vacations to show other sides of the country to vacationers as well.

Cuban tourism minister Juan Carlos Garcia Granda says he hopes to see more  tour operators offer escorted tours that can showcase the likes of colonial architecture, Cuban culture and nature.

Combining beach vacations with holidays that showcase other sides to Cuba would enable visitors to “enjoy more of Cuba,” Garcia Granda said during a Tuesday visit to Toronto. “One of the strengths…(of Cuba) is that we are more than sun and beach.”

Garcia Granda added that Cuba’s “cultural history is second to none.”

Meanwhile, Garcia Granda reminded people that annual Cuban tourism show FitCuba will this year be held from May 1-6, with Havana serving as the venue.

The show will feature cultural displays and showcase some of the Cuban capital’s historical side, with a hilltop fort built by the Spanish centuries ago featuring prominently in the fair.
