Opportunities Abound In 2023
While challenges remain, ACTA president, Wendy Paradis points out that it’s an excellent time to be a travel agent … “the pandemic absolutely showed that the value of planning and booking travel with a knowledgeable and professional travel agent has never been stronger.”
In a recent conversation with Canadian Travel Press, Paradis said that: “In speaking with our Travel Agency and Independent Travel Agent Members most are already well on their way to recovery with new leisure bookings coming close or starting to surpass 2019 booking levels. Our members specializing in business travel are seeing good improvement, however, the recovery is slower for business travel compared to leisure travel bookings.”
However, ACTA’s president cautioned that there are challenges ahead, including the possible arrival of new COVID-19 variants and the impact they might have on travel; the impact of inflation on the costs of travel; and the labour shortage that could impact on recovery over the course of the next six months.
Yet Paradis observed: “Even though we will have some bumps along the way, there are lots of opportunities. Canadians – young and old desire to travel, and current booking trends show they are prioritizing travel.”
