Tourism Shows It Cares At Victoria Event
A deeper understanding of Canadian Indigenous issues, and the potential option of creating First Nations tourism programs, were key takeaways for travel professionals attending the Meaningful Travel Summit in Victoria, BC recently.
The international conference assembled over 120 travel industry professionals from across North America and beyond, even Jamaica.
Attendees at the event, organized by the US-based non-profit Tourism Cares, came to learn about sustainable tourism efforts and to also participate in activities that assist local community enterprises – especially those engaged in regenerative tourism and Indigenous reconciliation.
They spent their first day in the Victoria Conference Centre listening to exponents of sustainable tourism on their fields of expertise, and then day two working at the local tourism enterprises, as part of an Experience Day agenda.
By day three, participants had acquired a degree of knowledge to hopefully inspire new concepts and ideas for each of their tourism ventures.
