PASSION FOR RUM AND BEAUTIFUL STORIES
|
In Curaçao people enjoy life and of course, that includes a drink in many colors and a little paper parasol! In addition to the well-known local beers, you can now also enjoy local rum, like Annabay Club and Ròm Tambú. The Annabay Club boasts three different rums, distilled in the Landhuis Chobolobo, which is also open for visitors. Ròm Tambú refers to the Tambú, the musical genre where Curaçao poetry, rhythm, and dance come together in a perfect, unique blend. Four to eight-year-old rums are blended to create a special drink. Try the local rum offerings on the island for yourself! If not, these are also now available at most major liquor stores in the US.

Another iconic event in Curaçao is the KLM Curaçao Marathon, this time, it’s 9th iteration. The marathon course record is 02:43:50, achieved by Polish runner, Wojciech Kopec, in 2018. There are three versions for you to join: The full marathon (26 miles), half marathon (13 miles) and the 6-mile course will take you past beautiful landmarks of Curaçao; over the “Swinging Old Lady”, the famous Queen Emma pontoon bridge and even over one of the highest bridges in the Caribbean, the Juliana Bridge, at 606 ft above sea level! For something less strenuous but still allowing you to enjoy the sights of Curaçao, there’s a 3-mile course on that Saturday afternoon. The longer routes will be on Sunday morning.
