Get a Taste of Iceland in Toronto
Taste of Iceland, a four-day festival celebrating the best of Icelandic culture and traditions, kicked off in Toronto last night.
“For the Taste of Iceland festival, the idea behind this is exactly that — it’s a taste of some of the best food, music, film, literature and wellness that our country has to offer, but not so much that you don’t come and visit us sometime,” announced the First Lady of Iceland, Eliza Reid, during a launch event at the Drake Hotel.
Running until Sept. 25, the festival includes a wide variety of options from a 5K Scavenger Hunt to sound bath event with energy healer Jósa Goodlife. Most events are free to attend, aside from a nightly Icelandic Culinary Experience at the Drake Hotel featuring a four-course tasting menu with Icelandic Chefs Viktor Örn Andrésson and Hinrik Örn Lárusson, in partnership with Executive Chef Laura Maxwell. Courses include Icelandic lobster soup and grilled lamb fillet.
There will also be a daily Wheel of Prizes presented by Icelandair at various events throughout the city, where participants will have the opportunity to win prize options ranging from locally-made spirits and products to a trip for two to Iceland, including an overnight stay at a lagoon hotel.
