Rebuilding Stronger In The Caribbean
Tourism ministers from across the Caribbean are gathered in the Cayman Islands this week for a joint series of events with the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
“These are the first destination media briefings to be held in person since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Kevin Pile, communications consultant for the CTO, announced ahead of a schedule of updates from 15 countries across the region.
Yesterday, Kenneth Bryan, minister of tourism for the Cayman Islands, was voted in as the new chair of the CTO.
“I’m immersive proud to be the host of the CTO and IATA conference,” Bryan said. “We know that there is pent-up demand from people around the world, and they have started travelling again, after being stuck at home for two years. Our goal is to bring them here, give them unforgettable experiences, and convert them to loyal Cayman Islands visitors, who continue to return year after year.”
The conference continues today with the 4th Annual Caribbean Aviation Day geared at promoting inter-island connectivity, findings ways of building multi-destination tourism and rebuilding a more competitive air transport sector.
Under the theme “Recover, Reconnect, Revive”, the day will see industry experts, senior aviation executives, and government authorities discuss the sector’s largest opportunities and key challenges across the Caribbean region.
