UNWTO Praises Recovery In The DR
The UNWTO has praised those in the Dominican Republic’s’ tourist trade, saying in a statement they’ve guided their country to the very top of international tourism’s recovery.
A UNWTO statement said the Dominican Republic’s tourist trade is “achieving the most successful recovery in the (international tourism ) industry, reaching record numbers in tourism arrivals.”
UNWTO president Zurab Pololikashvili praised Dominican authorities for their commitment to the likes of innovation, education and sustainability as they rebuild tourism.
“The Dominican Republic shows that the restart of tourism is possible,” Pololikashvili said on Twitter.
Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado praised Dominican President Luis Abinader’s leadership, and said his government is determined to see the country enjoys a healthy tourism trade.
“The tourism cabinet will continue to spare no effort to increase this recovery because the multiplier effect of the social and economic well-being of tourism in the country we see reflected in the smiles of every Dominican,” he said.
Abinader himself said tourism is invaluable to his homeland.
The government’s commitment to tourism “recognizes the vital importance it has as a source of employment and economic development of the nation. The country has shone and now that the times and the winds may be more favorable the potential they can unfold is unimaginable,” he stated.
Collado praised the “pillars of innovation, entrepreneurship and new destinations ” for speeding the recovery.
He also cited cooperation between the public and private sectors as being a major boost.
Hundreds of people with a stake in Dominican Republic tourism recently gathered in Parque Colon to discuss ways of furthering the recovery.
