Transat Cuts 30% Of Its Flights Through Feb. 25

Citing the lingering effects of the Omicron variant and the restrictive measures put in place by the federal government on Dec. 15, Transat has advised that it is cancelling close to 30% of its flights.

The cancellations apply to departures scheduled from Jan. 6 to Feb. 25, 2022 and Transat notes that “these cancellations affected some of our flights where profitability was affected by low load factors.”

The company said that it was closely monitoring the situation and “depending on how it evolves, we will determine if further adjustments will be necessary on the rest of our winter schedule.”

Transat also noted that it is “aware that this exceptional situation may cause inconvenience to some of our customers” and it is contacting those affected by these changes and refunding the full amount of the cancelled trip.

Where possible, it is offering to rebook or cancel their reservation for a refund.
