Air Canada has reinstated its direct flights from Toronto (YYZ) to Dublin (DUB); with the route relaunch coinciding with Ireland’s recent announcement that it’s now (July 9) welcoming back international travellers without the need to quarantine or test upon arrival, once fully vaccinated.
Sandra Moffatt, Manager, Tourism Ireland, Canada, said that: “We greatly look forward to sharing our world-famous ‘Céad Míle Fáilte – ‘one hundred thousand welcomes’ with those visiting friends, family and Canadian travellers once again, and with Air Canada resuming its direct flight from Toronto to Dublin, it is now that much easier for travellers to experience all that the island of Ireland has to offer.”
Throughout the pandemic, Ireland has maintained strict entry requirements for international arrivals in line with the EU, in order to ensure the health and safety of travelers and local communities, as well as implemented strict health and safety protocols to ensure all businesses, including the hospitality sector, are able to re-open and operate safely. Wide open spaces, outdoor adventure experiences, luxurious getaways and self-catering accommodation options all make Ireland well suited to a post-pandemic trip.
Over the past 16 months, Tourism Ireland has[AM4] engaged with Canadians through its “Fill Your Heart with Ireland” initiative, showcasing the many things to experience and visit as soon as it was possible to travel again. Whether you’re a nature lover or an adrenaline junkie, a history buff or an Irish whiskey fan, there are always new experiences to explore around the island of Ireland. From the longest coastal touring route in Europe along the Wild Atlantic Way, to the hidden stories and 5,000+ years of history in Ireland’s Ancient East – to city hubs and cultural exploration in Northern Ireland, there is something for everyone on the island of Ireland.
Air Canada will fly direct from Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) to Dublin Airport (DUB) three times a week, using 787 Dreamliner aircraft. For those that are fully vaccinated no travel-related testing or quarantine will be necessary.
For those who do not have valid proof of vaccination, they will need to:
- Present evidence of a negative RT-PCR test result within 72 hours prior to arrival into Ireland
- Self-quarantine
- Undergo post-arrival testing – this will be provided through the Health Service Executive in Ireland.
