Bavarian Bonus

With all that’s on offer for the tourist in Munich, it is understandably hard to tear yourself away for explorations further afield, reports western editor, Ted Davis in this week’s digital edition of Travel Courier.

But the embarrassment of riches continues outside the city limits, as the nearby beauty of the Alps is enhanced by winding roads, precipitous mountainside pastures, timbered chalet-style houses and even a few castles. It’s hard to choose between two such attractive expressions of city and country, so a travel itinerary that incorporates some of both is the only way to go. And, upon arrival, it may be best to prioritize the rural charms first.

That is especially the case if the choice for accommodations is the Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden, located in the Bavarian Alps.

Berchtesgaden is a storybook mountain town that is only about two hours by highway from Munich, in the southeastern corner of Germany, near to Austria.
