Greg Norman Visits New Sandals Golf Course

Golf icon Greg “The Shark” Norman recently met with Sandals Resorts International deputy chairman and CEO Adam Stewart in Saint Lucia to discuss transformation plans for Sandals St. Lucia Golf & Country Club at Cap Estate.

The 18-hole golf course is the newest addition to the Sandals brand in Saint Lucia.

Sandals Resorts acquired the St. Lucia Golf and Country Club last year, with massive plans for expansion and redesign by Greg Norman Golf Course Design, who previously created the award-winning golf course at Sandals Emerald Bay. Norman and his team will convert the facility into a new, international standard Championship Golf Course.

Sandals’ Stewart said that the new championship golf course could be finished as soon as the next 12 to 14 months.

“It’s going to be a game-changer for this destination and it’s going to be a game-changer for our company.”

“This golf course is a diamond in the rough and we are thrilled and honoured that Sandals has asked our design firm to bring it to life,” said Norman. “We have a fantastic partnership with Sandals and the Stewarts and look forward to working on another destination with their team in St. Lucia.”

Going beyond the enhanced golfing facilities, Sandals also plans to break ground on a fourth resort in Saint Lucia in 2018, Sandals La Source Saint Lucia, and the CEO confirmed that all was on track. This new resort will mark the beginning of the unprecedented Sandals program “Stay at One, Play at Four” in Saint Lucia.

“The construction and operations of this new 380-room resort will bring hundreds of new jobs to the island. It will employ 900 more Saint Lucians permanently, as well as 1,200 Saint Lucians during the construction phase. It will also continue to transform Saint Lucia into one of the top golf paradises in the Caribbean,” said Stewart.
