CIE Tours establishes Sustainability Action Fund

CIE Tours has launched a Sustainability Action Fund as part of its growing commitment to sustainability.
The fund will support the people and places that create unique experiences for its guests while addressing the environmental impact of its operations.
As a part of this initiative, CIE Tours has committed to multi-year investments in two Ireland-based programs: ReFarm, a new pilot program supporting nature positive actions on Irish farms, and Dublin-based Belvedere Youth Club.
Joining other pioneering founders and investors, CIE Tours will provide funding support for ReFarm, a new national “farming for nature” initiative that fosters biodiversity and drives sustainable and scalable farming practices across Ireland.

About ReFarm

Developed in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin, Burrenbeo Trust and local and international organizations, ReFarm is centered in the Burren region – home to the iconic Cliffs of Moher, a highlight within CIE Tours itineraries.
To date, the initiative has raised over one million dollars, to create and manage wildlife ponds, hedgerows and woodlands in rural areas across the country. The project also funds future research to aid similar initiatives as part of its five-year plan.
“CIE Tours is proud to support projects like ReFarm, an important initiative focused on developing ways to preserve Ireland’s beautiful rural landscapes for future visitors,” Stephen Cotter, managing director of CIE Tours. “These communities are also the backbone of our food system, and we’re thankful to be able to play a small part to ensure that this integral industry and the communities here thrive well into the future.”

The Sustainability Action Fund

Through the Sustainability Action Fund, CIE Tours will also be supporting the local Belvedere Youth Club (BYC), an organization dedicated to empowering youth in Dublin. BYC provides essential services such as school clubs, sporting facilities, creative services, meals, and a range of offsite recreational activities. Currently, only 15% of BYC’s funding comes from government support, with the remainder relying on fundraising, philanthropists, and corporate donors like CIE Tours.
CIE Tours will continue to seek out new projects and organizations for funding support through the Sustainability Action Fund both within Ireland and abroad.
